ESL Instructor/Teacher Trainer
Week 4
For this week, I really had to do a lot of research to find out the main differences in vowel production between American English, British English, and Transatlantic English. And there was quite a bit I found. I read through the Wikipedia page before starting this project, but there are so many vowel reference charts included on the Wikipedia page, that I spent most of my time examining those. Since I have an understanding of how to read a vowel chart, I could work through those on my own, but if you’re unfamiliar or not confident, something you can do is listen to people from that time talk, to help you hear the differences.
For this week I again tried to focus on rounding vowels, as that’s not something I normally do and I also was trying to add this almost airiness or lightness to my speech.
